LAUREL – A Nebraska bank is helping to build a school in Africa.
Security Bank of Nebraska won the Extraordinary Bank of the Year award in 2017 for its service to small towns across the state. The bank chose to donate its $10,000 award to the Unstoppable Foundation which is using the money to build a school in Kenya.
The Foundation’s goal is to bring sustainable education to communities in developing countries.
Chepkebit [chep-kuh-bit] village is a community of 2,000 people in southwest Kenya, and thanks to the partnership between the bank and the Unstoppable Foundation, more than 300 students will have a new place to attend school.
Security Bank has five locations in northeast Nebraska.
