What is the difference?
Cashier's Check* is a type of official check that the bank issues and signs. They are a great option for making payment for large amounts such funds for closing costs, purchasing a vehicle, or the transfer of property. When you purchase a cashier's check, the bank will pull the money from your checking or savings account with Security Bank and transfer it to an account held with the bank. We then issue a check to the person or business requested to be paid - certifying there are sufficient funds to pay the check.
Money Orders* are less expensive and are intended for smaller forms of payments $500 or less. This is a great option for paying rent or sending funds when cash or personal check is not an option.
*There is a fee for a cashier's check and/or money order.
Contact your local branch to purchase a cashier's check or money order.
Our In-House check printing services offer you the convenience of quicker order turn-around, savings on postage, plus the added security of your account information staying within your financial institution.
